This show is not out of the repertoire.
“The territory of loss is like an abyss, an insensitive desert full of mirages, a black empty space that installs itself in our soul in the moment of abandon.”Lily Curcio
Within Seres de Luz Theatre’s research into manipulation techniques and puppet construction, the meeting with the French master Philippe Genty in 1999 in Spain, was extremely significant. It was this meeting that pushed the group a step further with the manipulation of their puppets, to work with the idea of “listening” to the puppet and allowing it to suggest and lead the way.
Cuando tú no estás is the result of this experience, a performance without words, where presence and absence share the stage. The nostalgia of tango and the drama of opera frame the atmosphere of the piece that aims to penetrate the emptiness of abandonment with all its pain, desperation, or simply melancholy.
Synopsis:
With a Latin vocation for the tragic, alternating between magical duets and solos, the actor-manipulators and the puppets perform as equals in an audacious and provocative relationship leading the audience to see much further than what they are shown and to feel the absences on their own skin.
The show was born as a result of research in the training of the pupeteers with two puppets: Greta and Marina.
